some amazing glass types that can completely transform the mood of your shower.

Glass Shower DoorGlass Shower Door

You can get a custom shower door to fit most of your shower enclosure needs, in most cases the shower door can not be larger the 33" wide due to hardware limitations. The average glass shower door size is 28" wide and 72" tall if your opening is larger then 33" we it is recommend adding an inline panel to the door. If your shower door must be over 33" make sure the hardware you plan to use will be able to support the size door you need. Also keep in mind if the door will be over 72" tall to get the weight of the door to see how many hinges you will be need ether two or three. The number of hinges will be determined by the hardware vender.

Glass Inline Panel Shower EnclosureGlass Inline Panel Shower Enclosure

An inline shower enclosure with one panel is very common, you can have a glass shower door up to 33" wide and then a panel. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" Tall. So for example if your opening is 45" from wall to wall you could have a 28" door with a 17" wide panel. Here you have also two different way to mont the door. You can mount the doors hinges to the wall (recommended) or if you need the door to swing the other way you can also mount the door hinges to the inline panel. Attaching the door to the panel will be more expensive due to additional cut-outs required to attach the door to the panel, possible additional reinforcements for the panel and the 180° Glass-to-Glass hinges that will be required.

Most clients like to have an inline shower enclosure with two panels if their wall to wall opening is large enough. Instead of using one large panel and a door you have two panels on each side of the door and the doors hinges would attach to one of the panels. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" Tall

Glass shower enclosure with 90 Deg returnGlass shower enclosure with 90 Deg return

This type of shower enclosure is a door up to 33" wide with a 90 degree return panel. The door cannot exceed 33" wide because of hardware limitations. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 72" Tall.

Inline Panel Partial Panel 90 Deg Return EnclosureInline Panel Partial Panel 90 Deg Return Enclosure

This shower enclosure is like the Inline panel + partial 90 return, but your door with a panel has a cut out for the tub or Jacuzzi. The inline panel is one piece and there is not a brake in the glass. You can also have two back to back inline panels next to the door as shown in the picture. The other way of doing this type of enclosure would be to have the panels on each side of the door that way the brake in the panel is for the door and looks normal. Normal size door is 28" wide and normal height is 72" Tall.

Glass Neo Angle Shower EnclosureGlass Neo Angle Shower Enclosure

The Neo Angle shower enclosures are corner enclosures that have a panel on each side of the door at a 45 deg angle. The door attaches to one of the panels with a 45 deg (135 deg) glass to glass hinge. The door cannot exceed 33" wide because of hardware limitations. Normal size door is 28" wide and standard shower enclosure heights are 7

What You Need to Know About Shower Enclosure Glass

There are many different things to take into consideration before buying a shower enclosure or shower door whether it is going to be a major home improvement project or an upgrade for a home being built. We will describe the different types of shower enclosures, and answer some of the common questions, so when you order an enclosure or door you get what you need and want. Know what to look for and you are more likely to get what you want and get an a written quote for the project. Any realtor will tell you when remodeling a home spend your money on the bathrooms and in the kitchen those are the best investment.

The first thing to think about is the type of enclosure or door you want or need? There are a few to choose from: frameless shower enclosures, semi-frameless shower enclosures or framed shower enclosures. There are two main differences between the shower enclosures. First, is the way they look. Second, is the price. If you are trying to not spend a lot of money then you will want to look at framed shower enclosures, because they are the least expensive Some people think the only option is framed and frameless shower enclosures. Frameless shower enclosures can be very expensive. There is another option to choose from many people don't know about; semi-frameless shower enclosures. It is the midle ground or compromise for frameless shower enclosures for a framed shower enclosure budget or do not want to deal with a complicated install if you plan on installing it your self, consider a semi-frameless enclosure.

Then designing your shower enclosure, you don't have to completely understand the entire industry lingo to communicate or receive a quote from a designer or glass provider. It does help to understand the basics to guarantee you receive a proper quote the fist time. This site will help you understand some of the industry lingo to help you through your project.

When ordering shower enclosures make sure to ask if you are supposed to give exact measurements or if they expect you to do the deductions. In most cases they will wan the exact measurements and they will make all of the needed deductions. They can subtract the correct amount needed off each piece so everything fits correctly with hardware they are quoting. If a professional is installing the shower enclosure and he gives you measurements make sure to ask if they are exact measurements or if they still need deductions for hardware .
Do not assume the center of the opening is the same as the bottom or the top because 90% of the time openings are not square (square= When all 3 measurements top, enter and bottom are equal) in most cases the opening will be out of square (out of square= When 1 or more of the measurements are not equal) 3 measurements are needed from the opening, one from the top (top will depend on height of enclosure, standard height is 72" tall), one from the center and then one from the bottom. Even if you are getting quotes make sure to take all 3 measurements because it can change the price of the quote significantly if top and bottom measurements are equal but the center is off.
